798 Emergency Department Acute Urinary Retention Pathway Audit

Abstract Aim Method Retrospective review of notes patients coded as presenting with urinary retention in the ED between 01/02/2021 – 30/04/2021. Data collected from hospital electronic patient system. Results Total 147 for to retention. 64 removed not applicable. 83 audited: 61 male and 22 female. analysed. A DRE was performed 18% those AUR. The residual volume documented 64%. Tamsulosin started 36%, 36% 16% were already on. Laxatives 8%, 69% TWOC successful 43%, unsuccessful 21% applicable 26% (E.g., Listed TURP). achieved 75% on both laxatives, 68% alone 56% neither. Conclusion is being regularly initial presentation ED. Residual volumes are more recorded. combination laxatives provided highest success rate whilst providing any medication lowest. There scope increase adherence AUR pathway which may improve rates TWOC's guide future management.
